President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Harmeet Singh Kalka, on Sunday congratulated Punjab’s talented Sikh athlete Gurindervir Singh for creating a new national record in the men’s 100-metre race.
In a message issued here, Kalka said Gurindervir Singh’s achievement had become a moment of immense pride and joy for the country, especially for the Sikh community. The sprinter scripted history by clocking an impressive 10.09 seconds in the 100m sprint, becoming the first Indian athlete to break the 10.10-second barrier.
“Today is a moment of immense pride and joy for the nation, especially for the Sikh community. Gurindervir Singh scripted history by clocking an outstanding time of 10.09 seconds in the 100m sprint,” Kalka said.
He further stated that with this remarkable achievement, Gurindervir Singh had become the first Indian sprinter to break the 10.10-second barrier.
Kalka added that the achievement was not only a new national record but also a major inspiration for the youth of the country. He said the hard work, discipline, dedication and fearless spirit displayed by Gurindervir Singh reflected the strength, determination and resilience that have always been associated with the Sikh community.
He further said that Gurindervir Singh had proved that with commitment and courage, every difficult goal could be achieved, adding that the historic feat had brought immense pride to India.
