Devdutt Padikkal’s 117 powers India to 300/5 on day one of 2nd Test vs Sri Lanka

Devdutt Padikkal struck his second consecutive Test century as India reached 300 for 5 at stumps on the opening day of the second Test against Sri Lanka here on Sunday.
Captain Shubman Gill made 50, while opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with 45 and 43 respectively.
Dhruv Jurel (7 batting) and Saransh Jain (4 batting) were at the crease at the end of the day’s play.
Padikkal’s 117 came from 193 balls and he hit 12 fours. He stitched 120 runs for the third wicket with Gill who fell at the stroke of tea when India reached 187/3.
Gill was caught behind for 50 off 108 balls (6 fours) right after completing his half-century. He was dismissed by Asitha Fernando.
