Who are Jerrssis Wadia and Aryan Sharma? the Indian-origin prodigies selected for cricket Australia squads

Two young cricketers of Indian origin, Jerrssis Wadia and Aryan Sharma, have earned places in Cricket Australia’s pathway squads, underlining their growing stature in Australian cricket.
Wadia has been named in the Cricket Australia XI that will take on Bangladesh in a three-day match in Darwin from August 6 to 8. The squad also includes prominent Australian talents such as Sam Konstas, Josh Philippe, Hugh Weibgen and Matt Gilkes.
Born in Mumbai in 2001, Wadia represented Baroda at the U-16 and U-19 levels before moving to Adelaide as a teenager. The all-rounder progressed through South Australia’s cricket development system and was later spotted by former Australia coach Tim Nielsen. He made his Big Bash League (BBL) debut for the Adelaide Strikers in December 2025 and grabbed attention by smashing three successive sixes in just his second appearance.
Wadia comes from a cricket-loving family. His grandfather holds a Guinness World Record for being the oldest player to score a century in minor cricket, while the family also shares close ties with India all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
Meanwhile, Aryan Sharma, a Victorian all-rounder, has been selected in Australia’s Men’s Development Squad, which will tour India for the MRF Academy Programme in Chennai. The squad will play two matches on spin-friendly wickets on August 5-6 and August 10-11 as part of its preparations.
Sharma has represented Australia at the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup and was also part of the Melbourne Stars squad in the previous BBL season.
