New era for Team India: Shreyas Iyer takes T20I captaincy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record

Indian cricket entered a new phase on Saturday with Shreyas Iyer being appointed captain of the national T20I side, succeeding Suryakumar Yadav.
Iyer, who has previously led teams in domestic cricket and the IPL, now takes charge of the national side in the format.
In another landmark development, 15-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi earned his maiden India call-up. With his selection, Sooryavanshi has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the youngest player ever to represent India at the international level, marking a historic moment in Indian cricket.
The teenager has attracted widespread attention with his performances at the junior and domestic levels and is regarded as one of the country’s brightest young talents.
Meanwhile, lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been included in India’s squad for the Asian Games but has been rested for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England as part of workload management.
More details regarding the T20I squad and the upcoming series are awaited.
